Before you start

Tools needed

  • Pencil and level
  • Screwdriver to fit your screws
  • Stud finder if mounting into a stud
  • Drill and bit sized for your wall hardware, if required

Parts & hardware

  • 1 Sauron / Editions helmet wall mount per helmet
  • 2 wall screws suitable for the wall and the loaded mount
  • Matching anchors where required for your wall (hardware included only if ordered)
1

Orient the empty mount

Hold the flat back of the mount against the wall with the two screw holes one above the other. The lettering on the tray faces up, and the two short stops at the front point into the room. When displaying a row of helmets, check each helmet’s width and leave room above each one to lift its base over the front stops.

2

Mark both screw holes

Choose a stud where practical, or use anchors rated for your wall and the combined weight of the helmet and mount. Check for hidden wiring and pipes. Hold the tray level and mark the center of each hole through the backplate. Set the mount aside.

3

Prepare the wall

For drywall anchors, drill at the two pencil marks using the bit size and depth specified for your anchors. Fit each anchor as directed. The animation shows push-in anchors seated flush with the wall. For a stud installation, drill pilot holes as specified for your screws.

4

Fasten the tray

Align the backplate with the two prepared holes. Start both screws, recheck that the tray is level, then tighten each screw until the backplate sits snugly against the wall. Stop before the printed part bends. Check the empty tray for rocking or movement before loading it.

5

Seat the racing helmet’s display base

Lift the assembled racing helmet with both hands under its display base. Face the display plaque toward the room and lower the base onto the tray. Seat the base flat between the side rails and behind the two front stops. Check that no edge rests on top of a stop. Ease your hands away only when the base sits steadily. If it rocks, lift it out and check the seating. To remove the helmet, support the base and lift it clear of the stops before pulling it forward.
